How it Works

Certified Orientation & Mobility Instruction

I teach individuals who have a visual impairment how to travel safely and efficiently.

If you are new to vision loss, you can learn to leave home. You can learn skills to travel with confidence. I will listen and help you set goals that work for you.

Indoors:

Increased improvement in personal safety at home to avoid dangerous falls, prevent bumping into obstacles, learning routes from one room to another and more.

Outdoors:

Learning route to mailbox, walking around the block for exercise, cross streets, or ride public transportation (RTD Bus, Light Rail, share ride) and more.

Or if you have had mobility training but want to learn a new route, orient to a new or busier environment, or learn how to access and use digital GPS technology on your smartphone, then it is time to update your O&M skills.

I can help your child start cane skills, fulfill IEP goals, provide services in private schools, and more. Receive individualized instruction to fit you or your loved one’s needs, whether you require assistance indoors or outdoors.

Regain Your Independence

Take back control of your daily activities and regain your independence. I will help you know where you are, where you want to go, and plan how you are going to get there. Training normally involves learning to use a long, white cane. The cane will provide detection and provide identification at intersections.

Inclusive Support

Even if you use a walker or other support device you can still benefit from Orientation & Mobility services. Instruction is tailored to accommodate your unique needs.
